Literally meaning ‘Hive Market’, Chatta Bazar was the first market in the city to be readied with shops having a permanent roof. The entrance arch to the market is the Chatta Bazar arch now, previously an entrance to the Lakkad Kot, a part of Dewan Deodi (the prime minister’s estate). The arch appears triangular in elevation with the top squared off with three arches. There is a Naubat Khana (drum chamber) on the roof of the arch which can be accessed through stairs on the side. The Kaman was mainly used for the entrance of visiting dignitaries, and the Naubat Khana was the chamber used for the titular announcements of the visiting dignitaries. While the rest of the Dewan Deori was lost to time, a few structures survive, such as this arch and the old entrance of Salar Jung Museum opposite to the Madina Building
