Nestled in the heart of Adchini Village, Delhi, the Dargah of Bibi Zulekha, also known as Mai Sahiba, is a serene and spiritually significant site. It is the final resting place of Bibi Zulekha, the revered mother of the 14th-century Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.Bibi Zulekha, originally from Bukhara in Central Asia, migrated to India with her family during the Mongol invasions. She was married to Khwaja Syed Ahmad and had two children, including Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Known for her deep spirituality and unwavering faith, Bibi Zulekha’s life was marked by devotion and resilience. Her teachings and prayers had a profound impact on her son, who became one of the most celebrated Sufi saints in India. The dargah was built in 1250 AD, the year Bibi Zulekha passed away. It is said that she was buried in the same room where she lived. The dargah has witnessed centuries of devotion and has been a place of solace for many. It is particularly crowded on Wednesdays, considered an auspicious day to seek blessings from Mai Sahiba. The dargah features a blend of traditional Islamic architecture with modern renovations. The shrine chamber is adorned with a beautiful chandelier and glass decorations on the roof, casting a serene glow. The marble jaalis (latticed screens) and the silver-plated heavy door add to the sanctity and beauty of the place.
