He built an Imambara here due to which the name of this place changed from Dawood-Chak to Imamganj. Due to the fame of Miyan Saheb, it came to be known as Miyan Bazaar. There is a famous incident that Nawab Asif-ud-Daula of Awadh was very fond of hunting. While hunting on an elephant, he came to the dense forests of Gorakhpur. Darvesh Roshan Ali Shah was sitting in this dense forest with a dhuni (fire). During the hunting, the Nawab saw an old man sitting without clothes in the biting cold with a dhuni (fire). He put his precious doshala (shawl) on him. The darvesh threw the shawl in the dhuni. Seeing this, the Nawab got angry. On this Roshan Ali Shah put a tong in the ashes of the Dhuni and took out many precious shawls and threw them towards the Nawab. Seeing this, the Nawab understood that this was not an ordinary person but a saint of Allah. Nawab Asif-ud-Daula immediately got down from the elephant and apologized. The Imambara was established by Hazrat Syed Roshan Ali Shah in 1717 AD. The Markazi Imambara was built in six acres by Nawab Asif-ud-Daula in 1796 AD.
