Kos Minar

Kos Minar

Built during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, the Kos Minar at Kulsumpura is a cylindrical structure, topped with a dome, made of granite that stands at a height of approximately 15 feet. These milestones were used to mark the distance between towns and cities, as well as to provide travelers with information about the distance they had covered and the distance remaining to their destination. The Kulsumpura Kos Minar is the only remaining Kos Minar in Karwan between Golconda and then-new town of Hyderabad and is equidistant to the Fateh Darwaza in Golconda and to the Charminar.
