The renovation of Rasulpur Jama Masjid, built during the Mughal period, began in a modern way on 30 October 1987. This process that started then has been going on in this mosque for the last 31 years. The biggest hall here is built on just two pillars. More than three thousand Namazis can offer Namaaz together inside this mosque. 8 thousand Namazis offer Namaaz on Eid, Eidul Azha and Alvida. The height of the tower built on the top of the mosque is 110 feet from the ground. There are five doors to enter the mosque. Experts said that Rasulpur Jama Masjid was built during the Mughal period. There were 12 doors to enter the mosque and roofs were installed on 12 pillars. 2 small minarets were built on top of the mosque. 31 years ago, when the construction of the new mosque was started in place of the old mosque, bricks from the time of excavation were found. The year was mentioned on these bricks. Unfortunately, all the bricks were used in the mosque. A very large cemented floor was also found under the ground. Clay utensils and the old foundation of the mosque were also found. From this, it can be assumed that the present mosque was built for the third time. The discovery of clay utensils and a very large floor during the excavation is an indication that the ancient mosque may have ceased to exist due to an earthquake. Rasulpur Jama Masjid was earlier also known by this name and is famous by this name even today. Only four hundred people could offer prayers together in the old mosque. According to the estimate of local resident Maulana Jahangir, the mosque is about 60 feet wide and 100 feet long. But in terms of area, it is the largest mosque in Gorakhpur. It is also counted among the oldest mosques of Gorakhpur. The mosque built at this time is very beautiful and wonderful.
