Sultan Ahmed Shah Masjid in Ahmedabad is a religious place for Muslims that is well known for its architectural designing .It was constructed in the year 1414AD. by Sultan Ahmed Shah, the founder of Ahmedabad city. Thus , the masjid has been named after its founder .Lying left side of the famous Bhadra Fort , the masjid is very appealing to look at. It is one of the oldest masjid of Ahmedabad

The Masjid was erected by the founder of Ahmedabad ,Ahmed Shah ,in 1414 .It is said to have been used as royal household's private masjid. According to the inscription at upper part of the central mihrab , the foundation date seems to be the 4th day of Shawwal month in 817AH , which is 17 december 1414 .The pavement is of white marble, the canopy covered pulpit has a yellow marble balustrade carved in a leafy pattern ,and white marble steps. The Masjid cover areas of 700 square metres and have two rows of ten large domes surrounded by several smaller domes .The Masjid is supportely by 152 pillars and have four arched gateways. There are eight perforated stone windows and 25 fine carved pillars.
