The Tomb of Khan-i-Jahan Tilangani is an important medieval monument located in Delhi. Built in the mid-14th century during the Tughlaq dynasty, the tomb is notable for being the first octagonal tomb in the city, marking a significant departure from the square-shaped tombs of earlier eras. Khan-i-Jahan Tilangani, also known as Malik Maqbul, was a prominent noble and the prime minister (Wazir) of Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq, one of the most influential rulers of the Tughlaq dynasty. Originally from Telangana (hence the name "Tilangani"), he rose to prominence during the reign of Firoz Shah due to his administrative skills and loyalty. He was responsible for many key projects during the Tughlaq period, including managing state affairs and several construction works. The tomb, constructed with a combination of red sandstone and grey quartzite, features arched entrances and intricate decorative patterns on the walls, adding to its grandeur and historical significance.
